- We set an acre of potatoes between lealand and drills.
In preparing for lealand the field is scored with spades or ploughs. The ridge is left three feet wide and a furrow is left on each side of it. Then yard-manure is put on the ridges. The woman of the house cuts potatoes leaving one eye in each slit.
