- In the district of Manulla, shops were not common in olden times. People had to go to the nearest town which was then, Bastelelar to get their provsions.
Buying and seling ws carried on after Mass but it is not so now. Such things as tea, sugar, flour and the peoples necessities were bought.
Money was not always given for goods. Goods were bartered in this district. Labour was often given in exchange for goods.
It is considered unluckey to transact business on Tuesdays.
