   and before he went to bed he cut out the leather so that he would have no delay but to make the shoes next morning after getting up. When he had it cut out he put it away carefully. He was a very pious man and before he went to bed he put his family and himself under God's protection and implored Him to come to his assistance and to have pity on him and to make him able to rear his family. He retired early that night because he decided to be up early next morning to make the pair of shoes. Next morning he was awake very early and he got up. He decided to go to his bench to do a little piece of work before his breakfast so that he would have the shoes completed early in the day. When he reached the bench he was surprised when he saw a fine pair of new shoes on it before him. He never saw better or finer or
