   Then the owner had to take off the load and try to lift the poor donkey and set him over the soft ground. After this he would refill the load and bring it to the hard ground where the cart could get to it. So baskets were then in great demand.
   A pair of new baskets generally cost about seven shillings and they last about ten years if properly cared. Since the Land Commission took over the bogs and drained them the baskets have gone out of use as the horse and cart can now get into the bank.
   Mud or dung baskets were also much used in this locality years ago as the farmers had no other means of changing out the yard manure to the fields, but now it is all taken out on carts.
   Seán O Hairt was a great hand at making clothes-skibs and egg-baskets.
