  1. There are the ruins of an old house near the fort in Castlemore. Some years ago there were four brothers named Martin, Pat, Michael and Tom living there. They were all pipers and it is said that they got their music as a gift from the fairies. One night as the eldest brother, Martin was coming from town he sat down to rest at a bridge near the old mill and after some time he fell asleep. When he awoke he saw a beautiful fairy standing before him and she asked him to play the bag-pipes for her but he refused to play. She then vanished and he went home and when he tried to play he could not because the fairy had taken the music from him and he was very sorry because he earned his living by
