The 'Football Field' was so called because every football game was held in this field. It still keeps this name, even though the football field is now in Ballyowen. The old football field is on the Lock Road beside the Little White House.
The 'Coffee House' situated between Mill Bank and Weir View, was so called because an old man made coffee here (about forty or fifty years ago) and sold it to the men who went to this house in the evening for their recreation - games, reading, dances, singing etc. This house was built by the factory workers of Lucan.
'Giltraps Field' was well known to all the children around, for this was an ideal place for all their games. Long rushes grew by the stream and in these they hid themselves when playing Hunt-The-Hare. Then there was part of the field with very short grass which did great for playing ball.
