- IX(i) Once upon a time there lived in Murrevagh a man that used to be with the fairies. They (the fairies) wanted to bring a man about (=from) the neighbourhood. He (the second man) decided to go to Clare Island. So they said that they should get somebody in his place. So they went to a house and there was only the mother and daughter in the house. When she (the daughter) had the cows milked and was coming up the floor she fell and spilled the can of milk. When the mother saw that she fell on the floor she started cursing her. She got very sick and died. If the mother said God bless her the fairies could not have brought her. That all happened in almost twenty minutes.
When he came to his home his people asked him where he was. So he told them the whole story. He was very sorry seeing that the mother had only herself.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
