It is unlucky to go to a new house on Saturday:-
"Saturday's flitting
Is short sitting."If more than two are washing in one baisin, there will be a row. To prevent the row the woman of house should spit in the baisin.
When a star runs across the sky it is a sign of a death.
The following verse is very well know, and is always performed when possible:-
See a pin, pick it up,
And all the day you'll have good luck.
See a pin, let it lie,
You'll want a pin before you die.If the right hand itches it is a strange shake-hands and if it is the left-hand it means money.
Whenone's foot itches one will tread on strange ground.
If one drops a pen at twelve o'clock there will be an engagement in the house a month from that day.
If one meets a white horse, one should spit out for good luck.
If a snail crosses one's path one should pick it up circle it round th head three times, and put it on a wall otherwise bad luck.
It is unlucky to bring the White-Thorn flower into a house.
When there is a death in the house all the clocks should be stopped.- Bailitheoir
