    The people used to celebrate Saint Patrick's day by drinking to wet the shamrock. They would go to the public house, and stay drinking until they would get drunk. This custom is not practised now in this district.

    On St. Stephen's day, it is a usual custom for the boys to go around from house to house gathering money to help to bury the wren. They carry the wren with them in a little box decorated with ivy and holly.
