Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Any of these old people have not much Irish but most of them can tell old stories in English.
Long ago most of the lands of Killaghmore belonged to a Gentleman called Mr Donellan. This Gentleman lived in Killaghmore House. All the Donellan family have died and the house is now in ruins.
About thirty years ago the lands of Killaghmore were divided among the tenants, new houses were built and now there are more houses in the village than long ago. One of the tenants built a house in Killaghmore yard.
There was once a song composed about a spree which was held in Killaghamore House. The village is mentioned in this song. These are the first few lines -
It was on the twentieth of January,
The night being dull and wet,
There was a spree in Killaghmore,
The neighbours won't forget.
