- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)About forty years ago, Judy Kearns was visiting in Croaghill. As she was accustomed to pay a visit to each house in turn before leaving, she did not feel midnight falling on her. She was to go home with man named Thomas Kelly, however; who was stating in Leatra at the time. When they were passing by the fort, they saw a man, dressed in white, standing by the old whitethorn on the grave. They began to gallop and did not stop till they reached Leatra. Judy did not stay so late in Croaghill again for many a year.
From this fort, three others can be seen, one in Brierfort on Beirne's land, another in Croaghill on Rabbit's land and one in the village of Moneen. The one on Rabbit's land is a a circular one with four or five ditches and deep dykes between them. Both ditches and dikes are overgrown with moss and briers. Music was often heard out of this fort. One night my father was coming past the fort late. He thought he heard a sound of music out of the depth of the fort. He listened for a while but was disappointed when he heard no more.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
