On St. John's Eve bonfires are still burned by the youngsters in my locality.
On Hallow E'en beans are put in a fire. One of the beans represents a boy and the other a girl. If they remain together while in the fire the boy and girl in question will be married but if one hops away from the other they will not be united.
Another game we play is trying to eat an apple whilst it was hanging from the ceiling. The person who attempts this has his hands tied behind his back and when he opens his mouth to take a bite of the apple it moves away from him. Very few are lucky enough to take a bite of it.
