  1. 1 The elves or fairies are supposed to hit a cow with their magic stones, and the cow gets sick. The owner therefore tries to get those magic stones. He goes to a place where "three waters meet", called the "three mearing water" and brings home some of it
He puts silver and elf-stones into this water, and gives it to the cow to drink.
The people believe that this treatment cures the cow and I've seen cases where the animal recovered.
2 Blue stone and tar is supposed to be good for a Sheep's rotting foot.
3 Any animal with a sore foot is supposed to be cured by an application of boiled turnips
4 A "Briar" whose two ends are in the ground will cure a calf suffering form worms, if the briar be put round him.
5 A horse having sore legs will be cured by bathing in "Mustard water."
