   There is a plot of ground at the top of Rock St. Tralee where public executions were carried out long ago. Now it is walled in. This story is told about it. -
   Long ago there was a priest celebrating Mass at Gallows Green. A spy who heard about the priest saying Mass, went in haste to the military barrack. The colonel and his soldiers came to the place where the spy pointed out. The Colonel was surprised that the soldiers were not firing. He asked them did they see anything and they said "No".
   The colonel went to the barracks and told his mother the story. She was very much surprised, that her son saw the priest, and the soldiers did not.
