People had to go to Kenmare to buy goods to markets in very olden times but in latter years they had the markets in Sneem bridge. Pedlars & 'hucksters' went around long ago selling tea & other articles. Three men went around here as pedlars. One of them was Patsy Lyons, the other was Tim Sullivan & the other was Hamilton man. The people made their own sweets. They were called Bull's eyes. They were made with sugar & butter. The people brought a great many things from the pedlars in exchange for potatoes wool, flannel, eggs & other things. They had not much money in olden times & the people gave the 'hucksters' a littke meal & potatoes which they called a "pevcilin"[?].
