Hidden treasures
At Kileel, about eight miles from Naas there is situated an old castle. There are many stories regarding the old places.
Long ago there was also a nun's convent. There was a chapel about a mile away from this and an underground channel was joining the two chapels. It seems that when the enemy would be coming the nuns and priests used to go from one open chapel to the other by means of the subterranean channel.
Some time ago the AntiquarianSociety has discovered an iron box containing some priests vestments and other such articles. They found a large door under the ground at the churchyard in Kill also three large slabs with the figures of Adam and Eve carved on them. A holy water font completed the discoveries.
The top was blown off the castle during the 17th Century by Oliver Cromwell and it is said that a man named Drum who was on Ireland's side betrayed his fellow country men by telling Cromwell the exact position to fire from.(continues on next page)- Collector
