  1. There was a farmer, and he had two children. One daughter and one son. The girl's name was Jane, and the boy's name was John. One day they went to play beside the sea. They went to [?], and they never felt, until the darkness came. When they got out of the water, they could not find their way home. When the moon was shining, they saw a ship coming into the harbour. This ship was manned by Danes. These men went through the country, robbing and plundering.
They captured John and Jane, and they brought them with them. They brought back the children to their ships. One of the robbers, put them into a room along with the pilot. They brought the children off to a foreign land, and they were made slaves of. After a while, John broke away from his captors. When he was gone about three miles, he went into a house. The people took off his clothes, and they saw a red mark on his back. The people knew that they were slaves belonging to the Danes, and they sent them back to the Danes.
