- (continued from previous page)Landlord's demesne was arrested and brought before the Court at Castlerea. He was handcuffed, badly clad and badly nourished but _ all a man.
On hearing his sentince the young man addressing the Magistrate said,
"What more can you do to me, than order that I be lashed by a woman to the end of the town."
"Ya" replied the Magistrate.
"Ya and back again will you be lashed." - Sandford was a severe Landlord and had little respect for Catholics. Any man found pourching on his demesne was taken into Court where a severe sentence was passed on him for such a slight offence, for slight it was in the sight of God or man - to kill a hare or rabbit for food when his(continues on next page)
