- Where the bright'ning hawthorne blossom casts its perfume on the gale,
I, in fancy, ever wander, in my homeland--Innisfail.
Ah! that fleeting, fickle fancy wraps my heart in endless woe;
I may never, never, never, see the scenes of long ago.
Weary, weak and sad, dejected more I on life's prairie lone--
Wand-ring here, and cheerless, aimless-- "Here unknowing and unknown."
And as look I thro' life's vista, sadness dulls my manhood's glow,
