- My home district is called "Mayo Abbey". It is in the parish of Mayo and barony of Clann-Morris. There are nine houses in the district, eight of them are slated and one of them is thatched. There are five one storey and four two storey.
The district got its name Mayo because of all the yew trees that grew in it long ago and Abbey because there was a monastery built in it.
There was no houses in the district in older times as there are no ruins to be seen, except the ruins of a castle, a kennel and a protestant church..
Long ago a king called Garret Mór lived in the castle he owned(continues on next page)- Collector
