Kathleen Delaney, Mayo Abbey, Claremorris. - The south wind brings most rain to our district and when rain is expected the following signs are to be seen, if soot is falling from the chimney and a blue colour in the ashes, also if there is a blue blaze in the fire.
Anybody that ever injured or broke any of their bones, the injured part get sore before rain. Anybody that has corns also get trouble from them. If there is a rainbow on a Friday there will be rain for(continues on next page)- Collector
