- These are some of the home cures which the people used for the various diseases. For a headache a strip of cloth steeped in vinegar was tied tightly around the forehead. The sting of a nettle was cured by running a dock lead on the spot affected. For the removal of a wart a drop of castor oil is applied several times. For a pain in the stomach a cup of hot milk with a little pepper is taken. The sting of a bee is cured by rubbing a dock leaf heated by the fire on the poisonous spot.
