  2. The fairs of this district are held in the town of Ballyhaunis. Nowadays fairs are always held in towns but formerly they were held some distance from the town. Up to about fifty years ago buyers here transacted business at special places such as Mannan Wood and Tully Crossroads. This is no longer done.
