“Long ago the people lived in a more homely way than nowadays.”
(continued from previous page)potatoes.
The potatoes peeled and then scraped into pulp.
The the water was squeezed out of the pulp, and the pulp was mixed with flour and milk. Then they are mixed and made into a cake.
The difference between boxty and potato cake is that the potatoes are boiled before using when making potato cake.
Potato cakes were baked on a grid iron.
At certain times of the year they had currant cakes.
Before baking the caked they always put the sign of the cross with a knife on the top of them.
The reason of that was to help the cake to rise.- Collector
