- Long ago when money was not much in use there were no shops and the people had to make their own clothes. They had to make them out of flax or wool. Flax was a very plentiful crop. Each farm sowed an acre or a ? an acre. There were thread in the middle of the flax straw. The flax was pulled not cut. When it was pulled it was seeded and the seed was got as medicine for ho? and cattle. Then the ? was put in a pond or a boghole until the ? side part was rotten(continues on next page)
