when John Leonard of Quarryfield and John Maye of Kilturra were cutting turf, they discovered a young girl's head buried in the ground. Judging by appearances it was not long there, because her lovely golden hair and red cheeks were still to be seen. But as the astonished discoverers watched her beautiful hair fell off and her eyes fell out and her red cheeks faded away, at that moment also John Leonard lost his sight and never recovered it since.
