Marriages usually take place before and after Lent. Lent and May are unlucky times to be married in. The old saying is, Marry in May, And you'll repent for many a day. Matches which are made by priests and women are supposed to be unlucky. When the parents of a girl are satisfied to get her married to some certain boy they give the fortune to her.
