    would put the oatmeal into a basin. They would put some water into the basin along with the oatmeal. The water would have to be middling hot. If the water would be too cold or too hot the cake would not be baked right.
    When the water and the oatmeal would be mixed together the cake would be put on a lid to bake. Then it would be left beside the fire. It was on a griddle that the people used to bake an oatmeal cake. It was an iron stand that they used to have to hold up the griddle.
