- There was candle-making carried on in this district long ago. They made them out of tallow and rushes. They used to peel the rushes, and melt the tallow, and keep rolling the rush in it till the candle was formed.
Basket and cliabh-making was also carried on and is up to the present day. Osier rods are used.
Spades, gates, fire cranes, parts of ploughs, harrows. etc. were manufactured by P. Lyons Liscarney.
Scrach- chloch was used for dying. It was got growing on rocks. It was then boiled in water in a pot until it was to its perfect colour.
Ropes were made also out of tuighe-bualiach. First of all they pull the rushes and boil them in a pot. They plait them then into ropes.- Informant
