- Long ago, there were no roads like there are now. The people had to go across the fields to go to Ballina. There is an old road leading into Carrowmacshane where I live, and it is called the Green Road. The reason why it is called that name, is, that there is green grass always growing on it. It was the only road for travel or for carts the people had in those days in Carrowmacshane
At last the people made roads themselves, but got no payment for making them. They often had to carry stones for half-a-mile(continues on next page)- Collector
