- There were many more tailors in this parish long ago than there are in it now. The peopl used not wear ready-made clothes in those days like they do now, and so the tailor got plenty of work to do. The women used to spin a good deal of thread out of wool. When they had it spun they used to bring it to the weaver to weave it into cloth - called flannel. Then they used to bring it home, and the men used to send for the tailor and he used come and take their measure for the suit. Then he used to wait a week or so in the house until his work(continues on next page)
