people used to buy clothes from them, for they were very cheap.
The people long ago had not as much money as they have now, and they found it easier to live, for they lived mostly on their own crops, and had not to buy much food.
They used to have oats and barley, and they used to grind the grain themselves with stones called "quairns". They used to get flag-stones in a quarry out of which they used to cut the "quairns".
