The parson himself was also able to survey but to lie above suspicion would not measure his own field. Next day he got Jack Mulloy and the parson accompanying them Jack began to measure the field. As it was a triangler and his surveying chains were a ball of twine with different knots for perches, yds and ft which no other body could understand but himself. When he was finished although the parson knew the exact measurement he asked Jack what was in it. Jack told him to the very inch, the Parson answering said "You have it to the point of the needle."
