- There was a battle fought on a hill, which is in the townland of Knockanillaun, half way between Crossmolina and Ballina. It is in our land. There was a lot of men fighting in the battle, but there was no one from our district fighting in it.
There was three officers killed in this battle.
The three men that were killed were buried where the battle was fought, in our land, and over the grave is a stone. This is a rather big grave. Father O'Kane wanted my grandfather to dig it, but he would not when Father O'Kane would not take the first three bits out of it. R.I.P.- Collector
