    in the day, and it would cost about eight hundred pounds per mile. In some parts of the road where the men could not break the stones, a crusher came along and broke them.
    It was the county council that steamrolled the road. They started steamrolling in October 1937, and they tarred it in May 1938. In a part of the road called "poll moR,"they had to put a lot of stones, because it was very soft, and on each side of it there is marshy land.
