- Up to twenty years ago, the people of Tallow made St. Brigid's crosses on the eve of her feast. After supper, each member of the family went out of the house and returned with a bundle of rushes.
They sat on the floor and made crosses out of the rushes. Then they dipped the crosses into holy water and blessed all the animals.
On that night they put the crosses outside their windows so that St. Brigid would bless them.
The crosses were kept in the houses, and when a person had a headache the sign of the Cross was made with St. Brigid's Cross on the head of the person and it was kown to cure them.- Collector
