- The Story of an Old LisThere are many old lisses in the parish of Stradbally and many tales told about them.
In one of those local lisses long ago a young boy fell asleep. When he awoke some time at midnight he saw a crowd of men running to the lis all dressed in red coats and caps. As they were approaching they were all saying together "A hat or a cap for me". So he joined in with them and said "A hat or a cap for me". They led him into a hall and there they dressed him in beautiful clothes and gave him a lovely white horse.
