  1. There were a few brave men in our district who were noted for their bravery in time of fighting and battles.
    One of them, Robert Emmet, who lived in Butterfield Lane, Rathfarnhm, with his house-keeper, Anne Devlin, planned to capture Dublin Castle, so he gathered a band of men and went forth into the streets of Dublin to capture Dublin Castle, but their plans were betrayed by a traitor, and so they failed and Robert Emmet was killed.
    Niall Dubh fought a battle at Kilmashogue in 909. He was a High King.
    Padraic Pearse lived in Saint Enda's in Whitechurch. He was in the Aran Islands learning Irish, and the name of the patron saint of the Aran Islands was St Enda, so he named his own house St
