    After that he had a forge.
    Long ago people tanned their leather by means of a special weed which they searched for.
    When there were no churns long ago to hold milk, farmers made their own from wood. They also made their own barrels.
    Farmers used to plait their own whips long ago, and they had a small bunch of thongs at the end.
    In Butterfield Lane there used to be a lime-kiln. The kiln was broad at the top, and narrow at the bottom. A fire was made beneath the kiln, and there were four iron bars across the top. The lime-stone was put across the bars, and the heat of the fire broke it up. The loose lime fell into a sort of bucket under the bars.
    People used to make their own nets, long ago. They made them with cork and fishing twine. They split the cork into about the size
