  1. The bread that was eaten in this district long ago was brown bread, rusks, made from bran which were hard wheaten bread, made from wheaten meal and a small amount of flour. A lot potato cakes were eaten also. When flour was scarce rye put in bread to save flour, and that made the bread black. There was a flour mills in a field which Lindens own now.
    A man named Norton, who lived in Templeogue village had a machine which consisted of two flat stones and a handle with a hole down one stone. The corn was put down the hole, and the stone beat against it, and ground it. and a slot was pulled back, and the corn fell into a sort of iron cask, and
