- (continued from previous page)music, and some people singing, “Monday, Tuesday,” Rossmore joined in the singing “Monday Tuesday and Wednesday too.” The fairies all gathered around him. He spent the night amongst them. They were so delighted with him that they told him to make a wish. He did so and wished to get rid of the hump that was on his back. They threw him up in the air three times and when he fell to the ground his hump had disappeared. When he went home his mother did not know him.Next Market day his brother set out for the market. He too sat down and fell asleep. When he awoke, the fairies had all gathered round him, singing “Monday, Tuesday.” They asked him to join in the singing. He was so bad-tempered that he told them to leave him alone.When they were finished singing they asked him to make a wish. He too wished to get rid of his hump. They threw him up three times and when he came to the ground, he had two humps instead of one. The fairies went away(continues on next page)
