burning. A man would break up the lime stone in small lumps. Then they put in a layer of turf into the kiln. Then they put a layer of lime stones on top of the turf and so on until they filled the kiln. Then they set fire to it. They left it there burning that night and two men waited up to watch it. They left it burning a night and a day. Then they would take the lime out in the hole in the side.
