The widow’s heart was torn,

For the soul of Noírín Bán. VThere’s a graveyard in Stranolar
Where the flowers do gently wave,
There’s a widowed mother kneeling
By a lonely silent grave;
“O my Noírín,” she is saying,
“I am lonesome since you’ve gone,
‘Twas the curse of Emigration
Left you here, young Noírín Bán. VICome, all you boys and girls,
Ponder well before you go
From your happy homes in Ireland
