  1. (continued from previous page)
    I searched everywhere, but ah, never mind,
    That deceitful lass I never did find.
    IV
    To the house of John Flynn I next did repair
    In hope I should find some trace of her there:
    Double jigs, jigs, and reels, sure they made the time pass,
    I still hoped that in would come that wicked lass;
    But no, and I was to buy a new rig
    For the money I’d get for my dear little pig.
    V
    She did not turn up, so home I did go
    My work to do and my shuttle to throw;
    I’d stick to my loom while youth was in bloom,
    And I’d never be caught by a scoundrel again.
    VI
    The girl I love, she too causes me woe
    If she would wed me things wouldn’t be so;
    But I’ll search everywhere for that blade, she’s a prig,
    That lassie that stole from me the price of my pig.
