- It is supposed to be very unlucky to bathe on Whit Sunday. Saturday is an unlucky day for flitting because there is an old saying "Saturday's flit is a very short sit". The thirteenth day of any month is believed to be an unlucky day for doing any work. Good Friday is looked upon as the best day of the year for setting crops of any kind. If it rains on St. Switins it is believed that it will rain forty days afterwards. In the country the people think that Wednesday is the most unluckiest day of the week. It is believed that if you wash your hair on Good Friday that you will never catch the cold the whole year round.
