In two houses socks are knitted from yarn bought in Buncrana or Derry or home spun.
These two house have a spinning wheel each, one of these are in my house and the other is James McLaughlin of Crislaughkell and in mr Dophertys of Monreagh.
Before spinning my mother cards it and spuns it as it comes out of the heak she rolls it in balls and then puts the yarn on the reel to make it into "skeens" or "cuts" each meauring 60 yds. and when it comes to that it strecks.- Collector
