My mother used to spin wool into yarn and then send the yarn to a man named Lee who lives in the Backhill near Cockhill outside of Buncrana.
This man had a "loom" for weaving the yarn into blankets for her.
There are three spinning wheels in this district that I know of one belonging to John Hegarty of the Marraghs another in Joe Kearney's of Tullydish while another is owned by James Henderson of Tullydish.
Some of the implements that are used in spinning wool are the "purn", the "whorl", the "heck", the "jinking string" and the "bands".
