One evening as I wandered forth, from daily labour free
To take an observation from the hills of Glenmakee.
The sun was setting in the west, her last expiring raize
Illumined the sparkling due drops fell on "Crag-na-hurna" braes.

Sliabh Sneacht, that mighty monarch that wares the royal crown
Is first to catch your wondering gaze, it looks in splendour down
Upon the little Asconiv hills that guards the mighty spire
And sparkles in the setting sun like glittering gems of fire.

Amid the brown and uneven heath that shades the Norway drake
