    One evening as I wandered forth, from daily labour free ¶ To take an observation from the hills of Glenmakee.

    Next, Barnan, O! that rugged peak
    Ah how my doth sigh
    The last green hill of Innishowen to catch the exiles eye.

    As round the cliffs of Binion we skim the briney spray.
    To seek a home in a alien clime three thousand miles away
    A huge round tower in the ocean wide in the midst of a dashy spray
    Glassheady shoots from the briney wave and smiles in Pollan bay.

    Behind does an ancient castle stand erected by Maol Faul
    All that remains is crumbling spire of the once majestic hall
    To the east is that memorial spot that emrald green, clad hill
