I heard this story from Anthony Gallager,
River, Achill,
Westport, Co. Mayo
He is still alive at 77 years - The Danes' cave\There is a cave under Pat Dever's land on the Bank and the name they call it "The Danes' cave". It is like a butter box to the out side, but when you go in a bit it is big. Some people say that it is going to the castle that is in the street lake. There was golden the castle because when Peggie's old house was being built they went out in boats for stones and they got most stones on it and also they got gold spoons and forks and they saw more spoons and knives falling off the wall into the water.
One day a man was walking around the bank and he came to the cave, and he went in. When he went in about six yards it was a lot bigger and he kept going in until he came to a big of hole water and he could not go any farther and he had to return, on his way out he got a barrel of a gun. He told the people about the cave, some of them went down but they were afraid(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
